About Mobilisms
Who we are
Mobilisms is published by some of the hard-working people of FHDigital, the digitally focused and socially savvy group at Fleishman-Hillard. We’re not afraid to ask “what if?” We take the best of what’s now, add what’s next and come out the other side with some insights that might not have been available otherwise. The thoughts and ideas in this blog (and its related social media appendages) are strictly those of the authors found here and don’t necessarily represent those of our employer, clients or fellow employees.
When we do reviews, it’s from an inherent interest in the technology, and we don’t take compensation for it. When we write about companies, we do so because of what they’re doing to advance the mobile cause or because we’re generally interested in where they fit into the ecosystem. If they happen to be clients, we’ll let you know. The point is, we always strive for complete transparency in all we do. If you have any questions, feel free to drop an email to brad dot mays at fleishman dot com.
What’s a mobilism?
Anyone in a position to market a product or service should be thinking about the role that mobile plays in their success. For a few, there will be no impact. For others, the impact will be profound. We’re on the verge of a whole-scale shift in how people discover, experience and share the world (and brands) around us. That’s what this blog is about – serving up real-world examples of this shift, based on hands-on experience with the technologies that are driving this change.
As the level of technology increases and the names of players change, the answers to our questions get more vague. So instead of trying to peer into a crystal ball, we’ve decided to take a different approach to mobile trend watching – rolling up our sleeves and diving in.
“Mobilisms” are our beliefs on what’s relevant about the latest in mobile trends that are affecting people now (or will be soon). These beliefs come from personal experience with new tools and concepts (or a new take on old ones), or research and experiments conducted by others filtered by our own personal experiences to help separate the hype from reality. We look at this space though a marketing lens, with a heavy dose of practical consumer use. We put the consumer at the center of the discussion, mapping back to brand value.
We’re not experts about mobile technology – we’re a bunch of marketing and communications people who have an interest bordering on obsession about mobiles and mobile marketing. What drives us? Curiosity. We throw a lot of things against the wall to see if they stick. From where we sit, who wouldn’t want to play with the latest technologies, test progressive marketing theories and maybe discover what’s next along the way? But, we’ve also got a practical approach to everything we do. We don’t promise to know it all, but we’re willing to try and find out as much as we can – and hopefully save you from a few mistakes along the way.
Mobilisms takes the best of cool, mixes in the unknown and delivers a first-hand perspective on what’s really possible in mobile. All brought to you by the Fleishman-Hillard Digital team in Texas.
